Nick Saban, Coach of Alabama FC penned a fresh deal with Alabama in summer 2021, with his annual salary for the year being $8.7 million.
It was reported by ESPN that this is an increase of $400,000 on Saban’s base salary per year from his old contract.
This new deal, which lasts until 2028, will average out across its life-span. This means that Nick Saban’s average based salary over the duration of the contract will be about $10.6 million.
Saban will also receive as a nice small bonus a $800,000 yearly boost for staying on as coach.
If Saban go onto to guide the Crimson Tide to yet another National Championship, he will pocket more bonus money. Despite the salary and completion bonus, Nick Saban will receive a further $800k if the Bulldogs are defeated next week.
Saban’s salary puts him comfortably top of the list of best paid coaches in college football.
He is also among the top 10 best paid coaches in US sport, with the likes of Bill Belichick, Sean Payton and Gregg Popovich (NBA) ahead of him.
WHAT NET WORTH DOES NICK SABAN POSSESS?
As expected, given his success and longevity in the college game, Nick Saban has accumulated his fair share of dollars during his career which pushed his net worth in 2022 around $60 million.
His first contract with Alabama was worth about $32 million for an eight-year stay and his most rewarding year at the Crimson Tide came in 2017, when the coach pocketed over $10 million in base salary.
Having been in charge of the Crimson Tide since 2007, Nick Saban’s roll of honour is lengthy.
He has won seven National, 10 SEC and 14 SEC Western Division titles under his belt during his tenure in charge and he will be looking for an eighth National Championship when his side face off against the Georgia Bulldogs on January 11 2022.
