It’s over 50 years since the idea of putting stickers on their helmets as it is a tradition started in 1968
Ernie Biggs, a coach of Buckeyes had came up with the idea as a way to incentivise the playing staff, to give them rewards.
Although the design of the stickers may have been changed slightly but still it’s same in a way with the simple white background, and appropriately, a buckeye on it.
