The lighting of the world-famous Rockefeller Christmas tree 79-foot tall Christmas tree in New York City today officially kicks off the holiday season.
The tree was delivered to Manhattan last month and is decorated with over 50,000 multicolored lights, as well as a 900-pound star with 70 spikes wrapped in 3 million crystals.
On Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET, NBC will broadcast New York City’s annual Christmas event, so be sure to tune in to watch it live.

Because the 12-ton tree will be outside, no face mask will be required, and before the performance begins at 8, NBC will treat the audience to Live Performances.
