What causes Nappy rash?

You need to find out why your baby is suffering through rash problem frequently. Nappy rash can be caused due to tight diapers making the bottom red. Acidity can be one of the reasons but the main cause of bottom rash is moisturizer. When the diaper is kept moist for a long period of time, it may irritate the infant and leads to itching and rashes.

How to Cure?

Now you can cure the rashes by good home remedies which will benefit your child. Following are the precautions you must take to cure your baby’s rash, which are easy to follow and prevents your infant from the rashes.

1)      Baking Soda:

This is one of the most renowned techniques. If your baby has a very bad rash, try this remedy. Add 1 tablespoon of baking soda into warm water .Give your baby a good warm bath of this water. This will clean the bottom and help in healing.

2)      Breast Milk:

This is the most effective technique as breast milk has natural antibacterial properties and is a germ-free solution making it the perfect natural cure for skin problems, also including eczema. Apply breast milk on baby’s bottom after giving him a bath, let it dry and diaper the baby.

3)      Cornstarch:

Another beneficial remedy for nappy rash is the use of cornstarch. Take some corn starch and add small amount of water in it. Heat it on the stove. Make a paste and let it cool down. Apply this paste on the affected area and leave it for 1 hour. Wash it after an hour; rashes will be gone in a flash.

4)      Flour:

A very easy and common remedy. Take 2-3 tablespoon of corn flour or plain flour.  Heat it in a pan until its light brown. Now let it cool down. Apply it as a powder on baby’s bottom.

5) Air out:

Moist diapers are the main cause of rashes. Remove the diaper for an hour or two. Let the bottom be free so it gets exposure to air. Repeat it 2-3 times a day.

6)  Change the diaper:

Do not keep the baby in a diaper full of waste for long. It causes itching and redness. Change the diaper after every 3-4 hours.

7) Use wipes and water:

Before changing the diaper, use wipes to remove the waste. Clean the baby with warm water to kill the germs. Now dry it completely. By using a soft cloth or let it air dry.

8) Creams/Balms:

Whenever you change a baby’s diaper, apply some creams/balms which have natural products in them.  Look for lanolin, calendula, Vitamin E and evening primrose oil and other natural non-petroleum items in the list of ingredients.
