The Horrific scenes unfolded at the animal introduction as a male lion killed a female companion just minutes after meeting her.
The victim was our beloved female lion known as Akili and she died of her serious injuries but we always thank God amid bad news as no one was hurt, because at the tragic killing of a resident lion at Birmingham Zoo, the zoo was closed so no one was hurt.
Akili who is 17 years old at the time of her death was a Beloved lion Birmingham Zoo and she was killed by a new male companion at Birmingham Zoo, Alabama State, United States.
The male lion called Josh, has been at the zoo since April, whole The female lion Akili who is 19 years old had been a resident at the zoo for 15 years after she was adopted in 2007, she was only 2 years old at the time of adoption.
It happen when she was slowly being introduced to Josh, and according to official statement on the attack, Birmingham Zoo’s Deputy Director Hollie Colahan;
“Unfortunately, Akili sustained serious injuries within the first few minutes of the meeting and despite immediate intervention by the Animal Care and Animal Health teams, she succumbed to her injuries and died Monday afternoon.”
