In June 2020, The Quaker Oats Company and PepsiCo released a statement proclaiming they were making “a commitment to change the name and image of Aunt Jemima”. The company was first started in 1888. By 1889 the company had developed its famous pancake mix, later branding the product under the Aunt Jemima name
Now known as the Pearl Milling Company, the rebrand was due to the company “recognizing” the Aunt Jemima brand did not “reflect our core values”. Since then the company has gone on to use the name Pearl Milling Company on all its former Aunt Jemima product
