Phil Jurkovec, a junior who had transferred from Notre Dame before last season and threw for over 2,500 yards in his debut season at The Heights, the player had a hand injury in Week 2 and will miss the rest of the season, but surprisedly, the player made a come back on Friday 5th November at quarterback.
Now in a Spirit of surprise, the Boston College quarterback Phil Jurkovec started Friday night’s game against Virginia Tech, who had Strong fumbled on the return, which was recovered by Jurkovec. This is a startling move that hadn’t been mentioned in the preceding several weeks as the Eagles rotated quarterbacks in quest of consistent play.
Jurkovec scampered in for an 8-yard touchdown two plays later and passed for three touchdowns and 303 yards in a season-opening win over Colgate, his fifth career 300-yard game.
After Jurkovec was injured, BC played backup Dennis Grosel before switching to true freshman Emmett Morehead in a 21-6 loss against Syracuse.
When asked which backup would play on Tuesday, BC coach Jeff Hafley had stated;
It might be two, but I’d want it to be one.
