Space Convention and Extraterrestrial Encounters
Wes Anderson’s highly anticipated film, Asteroid City, takes place in a 1950s desert town during a big annual space convention. Relationships are tested and new ones are formed, while something extraterrestrial poses a possible danger to everyone in attendance. The film is set to release in theaters on June 16.
Big Names in the Cast
The cast of Asteroid City features an impressive lineup of Hollywood stars. From Jason Schwartzman to Scarlett Johansson, Tom Hanks to Margot Robbie, and many more, Anderson seems to have pulled out all the stops in assembling his dream team of actors.
The Poster and Trailer Release
The film’s first poster, released on March 28, shows a bright blue sky and a desert landscape with what appears to be the Grand Canyon in the background. The film’s title is displayed on a billboard with a picture of a crater, and the names of the big stars in the cast are listed on the top right of the poster. The film’s trailer, released the following day, tells the story of a single dad and his children who experience an explosive situation in Asteroid City.
Anderson’s Track Record
Anderson has a history of creating beloved and critically acclaimed films, from his early works like Rushmore and The Royal Tenenbaums to his more recent films like The Grand Budapest Hotel and The French Dispatch. Asteroid City promises to continue this pattern of enjoyable cinema.
Premiering at Cannes Film Festival
Before hitting theaters, Asteroid City will have its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in May. Fans can catch a glimpse of the star-studded film through its newly released trailer.
