A pet dog has tested positive for Corona virus in the United Kingdom, although the dog is currently recovering at home.
According to the Chief vertinary officer, Officer Christine had said that the virus was tested on the dog when the dog was on APHA laboratory in Weybridge on November 3rd.
Till now, they had been no evidence that the virus could be transmitted to us from animals but as case be, the owner of the dog, was once tested positive with the virus. It could not be concluded if the owner contacted the virus from the virus or Vic versa.
Tests conducted by the Animal and Plant Health Agency have confirmed that the virus responsible for COVID-19 has been detected in a pet dog in the UK. The infected dog was undergoing treatment for another unrelated condition and is now recovering,.
It is very rare for dogs to be infected and they will usually only show mild clinical signs and recover within a few days.
Chief Veterinary Officer Christine Middlemiss said in the statement.
